I have been in education for over 35 years and leading Elwood Primary School for 15.
My focus is all about fostering a culture of Relational Teaching and Learning with staff, parents, volunteers and the wider community as partners.
I try to lead with presence in all instances for my staff, students and our community.
Elwood Primary have hosted schools from across Victoria to hear, see and feel the “vibe” of what it means to be truly relational and the profound impact this has on everyone involved – our Elwood Community.
I also organise our staff to attend School Tours to Santa Fe, New Mexico, which we have done over 10 years alongside critical friend, George Otero from The Centre of Relational Teaching and Learning.
Relational Teaching and Learning doesn’t come easy, continually spinning the plates is hard work, but it becomes the heart of the school community that everyone expects, respects and embraces.
My journey as an educator is about balancing the heart and the mind in leadership and always finding the joy whilst being in it. And Elwood PS is a JOY!
