Welcome to our new look newsletter EPS

After lots of feedback and some new learning on my behalf - we have moved our fortnightly newsletters to our Website through eNews.  Our eNews will allow you to move easily between articles, save calendar dates onto your devices, find past newsletters with ease and translate the eNews to preferred languages.  Most importantly, the eNews has been optimised for mobiles - so we hope you can grab your mobile and check it out!

Term 2

Our first week and more to come! We have had a wonderful - although quite chilly - start to Term 2.

Term 2 has seen the return of our Prep 2022 School Tours and our Grade 6 Ambassadors have proudly taken the first families around the school, visiting our classrooms and grounds and seeing our current preps in action.
Our "Ready Set Go" Transition program for our 2022 preps will soon begin, with the first day on 21st May.
We look forward to welcoming all the new faces!

Our Grades 3 and 5 students will soon be completing NAPLAN.
Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of our school's assessment and reporting process.
Our teachers have been looking at some past tests and having a little practice online to ensure our students are familiar with the types of questions in the tests.

We look forward to many Term 2 Elwood PS events such as the Grade 3-6 House Cross Country next week, our Mother's Day Stall and lots of incursions and excursions such as the Prep's Billy Cart making and our Grade 3 Melbourne Museum excursion.

Curriculum Day

Our staff will be engaging in Professional Development around our Maths teaching and learning on Monday 3rd May.
This will be a pupil free day.
TeamKids will be running a program at school, depending on numbers.
Please jump on the TeamKids portal, or visit their link on our Website to book.

Smoking Ceremony

Reconciliation Week is in Weeks 6 and 7.

Our Reconciliation Team of teachers are organising Reconciliation Week Assemblies to be held in Week 7 - hosted by our Grade 3 students.
A Welcome to Country and Smoking ceremony will be held at our Whole School Assembly on Monday 24th May.

More information will be sent out closer to the time.
Please keep the date as we invite you to be part.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day assembly
Our Grade 4 students hold a long tradition at our school of hosting the ANZAC Day assembly.
They have been learning about the Spirit of ANZAC and rehearsing for these wonderful events all week.
We invite you to this event on Monday 26th April.
4T, O and R will be hosting at 10am and 4J and 4C will be hosting at 11.30am.
Both assemblies will be on the Turf & Stage area - weather permitting.

Students of the Grade 5 & 6 Choir will be singing the National Anthem in the Combined Schools Choir - with Elwood College and St Columbas - laying the EPS wreath and reciting a poem at the Elwood Community ANZAC Day Service.
This service is on Sunday the 25th April 9.00am at the Elwood Sailing Club.

We Will Remember Them

By Mila (4J)

We remember them with a poppy,

We honour them with medals,

We respect them by remembering their ultimate sacrifice,

Their wish, our wish - peace everywhere for everyone.

ANZACs as One

By Mila (4J)

We stand as one, with one wish, with one heart,

And when we fall,

We will lay in the fields together as one.

The poppy field is where we lay,

We are brothers together on ANZAC day.
