The Elwood Primary School Community Market is run by parent volunteers to raise funds for the school.

School stalls sell hot food including sausage sizzle, egg and bacon sandwiches, veggie burgers and soup, as well as coffee, tea, milkshakes, freshly baked cakes and more.

The market features: fresh produce; bric-a-brac; clothing; jewellery; crafts; toys; home made produce, such as freshly baked biscuits, jams, relishes, etc.; fresh herbs & plants; home-wares; essential oils; naturally produced personal products; books; garden & household tools and many other items...

Restrictions on what can be sold

Elwood Primary raises funds for the school by having a cake stall and BBQ. We do not allow competitors in these areas. For all other food items please contact the market via e-mail or the market phone.

Stallholders are responsible for complying with all laws, rules and regulations relating to their goods. Counterfeit, copied goods, banned or dangerous substances, string in a can or bag bombs must NOT be sold.

How many stalls are there?

Approximately 140 during the year.

How many people attend the market?

We have never counted the number of patrons to the market but if the sun is out they will come. The market is busiest from 10am onwards.

Arriving at the market

Stallholders are required to enter and queue in Poets Grove from Tennyson St only. Melways Reference 67 C2. Please be extra careful, considerate and observant when arriving. “On Market Days ONLY special permission has been granted from the City Of Port Phillip to change Poets Grove into a two way street.”

Stallholders unfamiliar with the market layout will be shown to their stall.

Gates open for stallholders from 6.30am. Some of the stalls have a specific arrival time to assist with traffic management. You will be notified if you are required to arrive at a specific time.

Car parking & stallholder departure

For the safety of market patrons cars parked at your stall or on the market grounds may not be moved from or within the market areas between the advertised hours of operation. The driver is totally and legally responsible for the vehicle.

Parking for stallholders are in the nearby streets and designated parking areas, please check on the morning.

Getting a market stall

Booking for a stall is on a first come first served basis. See Forward Bookings below.

Phone the market, or send an email leaving your contact details (full postal address please), along with the product you will be selling. A market committee member will contact you if more information is required.

”You will need to pre-pay for a market to guarantee a site.  If you are unable to attend, and call or email the market coordinator the Wednesday prior to market day, a credit will be issued for another market date. The credit will expire if not used in the same year. year.

Stall dimensions: Approx 3 square metres

We are an all weather market and the majority of our stalls are in the open air. It is the stallholder's responsibility to provide their own tables, trestles & shelter. No refunds will be given on the day for bad weather. If showers are predicted it would be wise to bring clear plastic covers to throw over your goods.
